Some news from the site and from the digital photography world.
After some anticipations, Nikon has announced all the features and characteristics of the new middle/high level, full-frame digital reflex: the D850.
A great Auto Focus system inherited from the flagship D5: 153 points, of which 99 cross-type and central point focusing down to -4 EV... practically in the dark!
Double slot, tiltable rear LCD, 4K movie using all the frame (no cropping), a wonderful optical viewfinder (fighting against the advance of the mirrorless world...).
Launch price around 3300 $.

Today Canon has announced the new full-frame, intermediate-level DSLR Canon 6D Mark II.
Maybe not the best camera on the market for about 2000 $ but a good option if you have a lot of Canon lenses.
Main news:
- Good: 26 megapixels, 45 AF points all cross-type (sensitive to both horizontal and vertical lines), fully articulated rear LCD - a unique feature for a full frame camera, burst up to 6.5 frames per seconds, very light for a full-frame.
- Not Good: no 4K video, AF points just in the center of the frame, no dual card slot (essentially for pro photographers).

Sony yesterday released updates for 6 models:
- the full frame A7RII, A7SII, A7II and the new flagship A9. For the A9 there is just a modification for the overheating warning, while the other models received an interesting list of improvements, especially the A7RI/A7SII a change when noise reduction is set to NO, and this seems to target the wide complain from stars shooting people with the star eater problem of these cameras (even with no noise reduction set, the camera apply a noise reduction effect, technically known as "spatial filtering"

Company Serif has announced the availability of Windows version of Affinity Photo, after its availabilty for Mac. Affinity Photo is a product "similar" to Photoshop, with advanced features for handling images including RAW of course.
Differently from current Lightroom product, it provides supports for layers but it misses the advanced cataloguing feature of the Adobe product. Performance are not (yet) satisfyng on Windows systems in my opinion, but price is very interesting around 50 $ one-time (discount untile 22nd of December), not like Adobe that forces user to a subscription.
