I view this lens as being for two particular different kinds of photographers: travel photographers who would like to have a dramatic perspective but don’t want their wide-angle lens to dominate their bag, who values being able to capture unique, creative images that the average photography cannot [...] It isn’t a cheap little lens that you might buy on a whim. It doesn’t optically excel at anything but being wide. - Sony Alpha Blog
Overall this is a OK lens if you use it on a 24Mpix like the A7III but the 42Mpix of the A7RIII can’t be resolved in the corners.
The goal of this lens is to be versatile and affordable more than to be a top performer at all focal lengths. If you want the best ultra wide zoom the Sony FE 12-24mm F4 G, is still the king but at the double of the price of the Laowa.
